MUP Short-Term Teams

In addition to providing help with logistics and planning for short-term teams coming from various organizations like Heritage Christian School and Campus Crusade, we also regularly welcome short-term teams and individual workers that come through our own Mission to Unreached Peoples' home office. Many workers have said that their short-term trip was very rewarding. If you know that you are headed for the mission field but are not yet ready to go long-term, a short-trip can provide some hands-on training and fuel to keep your missions vision burning brightly. If you are not yet sure whether the Lord is calling you to missions or not, a short-term trip provides a great opportunity to test the waters and to listen for the Lord's voice. Or maybe you know that your long-term calling is in your home church, but you want to get a first-hand look at the mission field to broaden your vision of the church so that you can serve more effectively at home. If any of this is striking a chord with you, please consider a missions trip with Mission to Unreached Peoples, or a mission agency of your choice.

Short-term missions: Join a Team

Some Photos from our 1997 and 1998 MUP Summer Outreaches

Before the 1997 team arrived, the church prepared 2000 Digest Bibles (inserting a letter from the pastor and an invitation to a church "open house"), to be distributed door-to-door in the neighborhood.

One of the major outreach activities was a two-week intensive English course, including parties where the gospel was shared. The team was Michael (Denmark, front), Jeff (U.S., far left), and Maggi (Panama, next to Jeff).

Everyone had plenty of food and fun at the open house.

At the open house, the team performed a skit of the prodigal son story, acting out the action as Dan read the Bible passage.

In 1998 we also had an intensive English class. As in 1997, a team member sat with a small group of students to get to know them better. Here is Brenda with her "table friends".

The 1998 team had two guitarists (Jordan, from Seattle, is playing in this photo), so we held a sing-along party for the English students, including plenty of Christian songs.

We and the church made a custom cassette recording of testimonies and songs, and the team and church members prepared and distributed 2600 copies.

This time the "open house" was a music and BBQ party in a nearby park, and Eun gave a gospel message using a rope trick as a object lesson, while Dan interpreted into Japanese.
