Overview of Ministry History in Hiroshima

We ministered in Hiroshima from April 1996 until August 2002, in cooperation with Fukushima Cho Church, a congregation located in a "Buraku" area. Our evangelistic work emphasized friendship evangelism, but also included free English and Bible classes, literature and tape distribution, hosting short-term outreach programs, and many other activities designed to build community relationships and model God's love (browse the other links in this section for more detail). We also saw a great need for spiritual ministry among children, and so we founded a children's outreach called Rainbow Club, a ministry that is still continuing.

Although helping the outreach of an existing church has some differences from our current church planting effort in Osaka, Pastor Nagashima and the church members shared our heart to see Japanese people, and especially people living in the Buraku areas and struggling with discrimination, to hear about and receive the love of Jesus. Fukushima Cho Church would love to have another missionary come and take our place in that supporting role. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact us.
